If you're familiar with Panthera Krause's "Through My Mind" from his 2014 "Laika" EP then you'll be only too aware how lachrymose house can be made to sound. This two-tracker from the always polished and uplifting John Roberts, however, is its polar opposite. "Orah" consists of two lengthy house cuts absolutely brimming with fun and optimism, replete with joyous whoops, melodies that have been programmed specifically to induce stupid cheesy grins, and all kinds of bells, whistles and kazoos that would cause a Sisters of Mercy fan to ditch his leathers and go skinny dipping at midnight in the nearest lake. The cover is bright pink for a reason. So much as a smudge of black would be the cue for Sunn o))) to go skipping onstage hand-in-hand wearing white tuxedos and playing a very quiet, note perfect cover of "The Sun Has Got His Hat On". There are plenty of dance music enthusiasts who revel in the stony-faced elitist image it frequently presents. Not on this occasion though.
